Tina Parker
Having worked with clay since the 70's, I am still amazed and humbled by the complexity, challenge and profundity of this earthy substance. I am curious about how our ancestors put earth and fire together to begin creating objects of function, ceremony and narrative.
For my work, I enjoy throwing on the wheel as a springboard to creating forms. My handbuilt pieces can range from functional to simply decorative. Most are fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln, although I occasionally work in a community setting to experiment with salt firing.
