The Interreligious Food Consortium (IFC),

Clayscapes Pottery, Inc. ,

Syracuse University and

Cazenovia College

join together each year to fight hunger in Onondaga County by organizing an Empty Bowls fundraiser.

The event is held at lunchtime on a day in September at the Nancy Cantor Warehouse on West Fayette Street.  For a donation, you will receive a bowl of soup provided by restaurants in Syracuse AND you may select a handcrafted ceramic bowl.  There are always hundreds to choose from!

All of the money raised is donated to the Interreligious Food Consortium,  an  umbrella agency for more than 70 food pantries and meal sites throughout Onondaga County. It assists each of these programs with donations of food, money and program support, and connects people in need of food assistance with appropriate resources.

The Independent Potters’ Association is excited to support this endeavor by donating handcrafted bowls each year.

Together we make a difference.

The IPA supports Empty Bowls by throwing bowls at an IPA bowl-throwing event held specifically for this purpose, at Clayscapes Pottery Market, and whenever the spirit moves us!
